Large 'Pill Bug' Vase

This piece is wood-fired in Joshua Kehrberg's 'Cowboy Kiln' for 72hrs. It was placed in the back of the kiln and contains no glaze. The coloration on the surface off the pot comes from the ash and atmosphere of the kiln that comes in contact with the pot's surface. The clay used for this piece has a considerably high amount of iron and a small addition of fine mesh Manganese. The inclusion of these materials results in its dark complexion.
